Environmental management activities

Improving Environmental Performance through the PDCA Cycle

At the NKC Group, we place great importance on our Environmental Management System (EMS). A Comprehensive Environmental Management Committee, covering all production sites in Japan, is convened regularly to review the plans, goals, and activities of each site in line with the Group’s Environmental Policy.
At each production site, a local Environmental Management Committee chaired by the plant manager is organized. These committees meet monthly to review the progress of items in the annual activity plan and to monitor indicators such as CO2 emissions and the volume of industrial waste generated.

Environmental Audits

Internal audits

To verify the operational status of the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, internal audits are conducted annually at each site. The NKC Group also provides ongoing training for internal auditors and employees engaged in environmental management operations.

External audits

The NKC Group has obtained ISO14001 certification at five domestic and two overseas sites. Annual audits conducted by third-party organizations confirm that our Environmental Management System conforms to standard requirements and is being implemented effectively. Going forward, we will continue to improve our Environmental Management System to further enhance our environmental performance.

Compliance with Environmental Laws and Regulations

Building corporate trust through strict legal compliance

To ensure full compliance with environmental laws and regulations, the NKC Group has established voluntary standards that exceed statutory requirements, working proactively to prevent environmental pollution.

Examples of compliance activities

  • On-site inspections of industrial waste disposal contractors (Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act)
  • Measurement of noise and vibration levels (Noise Regulation Act / Vibration Regulation Act)
  • Periodic and simple inspections of Class I specified products (Act on the Rational Use and Proper Management of Fluorocarbons)

Prevention of Environmental Pollution

The NKC Group is committed to preventing air and water pollution and implements initiatives to avoid accidents that could affect the external environment. For example, at domestic production sites, annual emergency response drills are conducted to simulate waste oil leakage scenarios. The results and reviews from these drills are shared among relevant personnel, and procedural manuals are revised accordingly to actively promote continuous improvement.
